National Judicial Academy
The National Judicial Academy provides national level judicial education to judges from across the country; undertakes research into justice and judicial institutions; and aims to strengthen the administration of justice. Established by the Supreme Court of India as an Autonomous Body chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, NJA is fully funded by the Government of India. NJA’s home is a state-of-the-art world-class 62 acre campus located on a picturesque hill-top in the outskirts of Bhopal, overlooking Bhopal’s famous lakes.

Note: * Pay scale as per 7th Pay Commission. **Number of vacancies shown is only anticipated. The selection will be conducted for actual requirement at the time of selection. ***In addition to monthly salary, the selected candidate will be entitled to HRA or residential accommodation, EPF contribution, Medical Insurance Coverage for Self and dependent family members as per NJA’s policy. Annual increment and any other allowances as sanctioned from time to time will also be admissible.
General Information
- The incumbents opting for deputation must send their application through proper channel with ‘No Objection Certificate’ and CR Dossier/Attested copies of the ACR/APAR of the applicant for the last five years from the employer, with an advance copy to NJA. The terms and conditions of the deputation service will be governed by Government of India’s Rules applicable in this regard.
- Age Limit:
- For the post of Professor – As per GOI norms
- Upper age limit for rest positions – up to 45 years
- (The above age limit shall not be applicable for the staff serving in the NJA)
- The cutoff date for determining age will be the closing date of application submission.
- The applicant should submit the application in the prescribed format along with self-attested latest photograph and copies of testimonial in respect of educational qualification, date of birth, experience, extra-curricular activities, caste certificate, etc. If applying for more than one post, separate application should be submitted for each post.
- No TA/DA will be admissible to attend aptitude/skill test/interview.
- The Academy reserves its right to reject incomplete applications or applications received after the due date.
- The mode of selection for Group–A & B post will be either through aptitude/skill test and/or interview to adjudge the candidate’s professional and practical ability. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an aptitude/skill test. The mode of selection for Group–C posts will be based on the merit of the candidate in the skill/written test. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a skill/written test.
- The number of vacancies is subject to change, and the Academy reserves the right to fill up or not to fill up any or all the posts or to short-list the candidates in any grade based on qualification and experience.

About National Judicial Academy (NJA)
LEGAL STATUS AND GOVERNANCE
NJA is an independent society, established in 1993 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice of India is the Chairman of the General Body of NJA as well as the Chairman of the Governing Council , the Executive Committee and the Academic Council of NJA.
FUNDING
NJA is fully funded by the Government of India.
MANAGEMENT AND STAFF
The Director, NJA is the Principal Executive Officer of NJA. The Director is appointed by the Chairman, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India.
NJA academic staff positions include, in addition to the Director, one position of Additional Director (Research), three positions of Professor, six positions of Assistant Professor, six positions of Research Fellow and six positions of Law Associates.
NJA administrative officers and staff include, in addition to the Director, positions of Registrar, Additional Registrar, Chief Accounts Officer, Maintenance Engineer and other managerial and functional positions.
CAMPUS
The 63-acre NJA campus is located on the outskirts of the picturesque and ancient city of Bhopal – on a lovely hill overlooking at a distance the famous and beautiful 1000-year old lake around which the city of Bhopal is built (covering some 33 square kilometers, the massive lake is visible from space).
The NJA campus is widely acknowledged to be the best judicial education campus in the world. It has residential facilities for 144 participants, a well endowed library, conference and seminar rooms and a state-of-the -art auditorium. Recreational facilities include a fully equipped gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, tennis, billiards and other games. The NJA campus also has a 280 seater state-of-the art stand-alone auditorium.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
NJA’S academic programmes are guided by the National Judicial Education Strategy (NJES). Under NJES, NJA has established a national system for judicial education.
NJES was developed in September 2006 at a meeting of NJA and High Court Justices in Charge of Education, chaired by Hon’ble Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Judge, Supreme Court of India (as he then was) and currently Chief Justice of India and Chairman, NJA. Hon’ble Justice S.B. Sinha, Judge, Supreme Court of India also guided the development of NJES. NJES has been further refined and developed during its implementation which commenced in January, 2007.
