The Government of Karnataka vide G.O. No. FEE 125 ENV 2003 dated: 19-06-2003 has sanctioned the posts of Officers and supporting staffs for formation of the Board. The Karnataka Biodiversity Board has started functioning from 1-08-2003.

The prime objective of the Board is to foster the institutional setup for documentation, sustainable use and development of the rich biodiversity of the state.
