Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of
Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from Indian Nationals for the appointment of the
following position.

Name of position: Junior Research Fellow (02 positions)

PI: Dr. Amaresh Panda

Projects:

1. Project 1: “Analysis of the impact of mRNA-mRNA/circRNA interactions in pancreatic β-cell
   physiology” (Funded by Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance)
2. Project 2: Exploring the protein-coding functions of circular RNAs in skeletal muscle cell
   differentiation (Funded by SERB)

Fellowship: Rs. 31,000/- + HRA

Eligibility & Selection:

Candidates having M.Sc. or an equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects such as Biochemistry/
Biotechnology/ Microbiology with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade point (50% for OBC/ST/SC) are
eligible to apply. Candidates should have also qualified NET-JRF/NETLS/GATE/GPAT/BET. Candidate with knowledge and
experience in bioinformatics analysis or cell culture or molecular biology techniques will be preferred.

Age Limit:

The candidate should be below 28 years in age, as on 21.07.2023. Age relaxation will be given to the candidates as
per Govt. of India rules.

Selection will be carried out through application screening, followed by an online interview process.

Project: DBT project entitled “Technological innovations for development of functional foods from ethnic
fermented foods of the Indian Himalayas” under Himalayan Bioresource Mission
Name of position: Research Associate-I (02 nos.)
Fellowship: Rs. 47,000/- + @16% HRA
Eligibility:
Position-1: Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences, microbiology, biochemistry & molecular biology. Candidates
having expertise in microbiological & toxicological aspects of fermented food in in vivo models will be
preferred.
Position-2: Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences, microbiology, biochemistry & molecular biology. Candidates
having expertise in Bacterial genetics, who has performed gene deletion or gene mutation in bacterial genome
and/or animal bacterial infection model will be preferred.
Selection will be carried out through application screening, followed by an interview process.

Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute was established on February 11, 1989, under the administrative and financial control of Department of Science and Technology, Government of Orissa.
