Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)
Mumbai, is a premier institute dedicated to the intense multi-disciplinary research supporting the ambitious nuclear energy programme of India. BARC is empowering young, talented and motivated students to contribute to pathbreaking discoveries in frontier areas of scientific research and cutting-edge technologies by offering Junior Research Fellowships in the areas of Physical, Chemical and Life Sciences. Applications are invited from interested students for the award of Junior Research Fellowships at this Centre.
All the selected candidates will register for Ph.D. in Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI, a deemed to be University of Department of Atomic Energy).

2. AGE LIMIT :
The candidate must be an Indian national. The candidate should be less than 28 years of age as on last date for receipt of application. Age relaxation is applicable up to 3 years in case of Other Backward Class Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) applicants, 5 years in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe applicants and 10 years in case of persons with benchmark disabilities(PwBD) applicants.
Note: ONLY SSC/ MATRICULATION CERTIFICATE OR BIRTH CERTIFICATE WILL BE ACCEPTED AS PROOF OF DATE OF BIRTH, NO SUBSEQUENT REQUEST FOR CHANGE SHALL BE ENTERTAINED.
3. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
I. Candidates should have consistently good academic record and should have secured minimum of 60% aggregate in B.Sc. and 55% aggregate in M.Sc. from a recognized University.

IV. M.Sc. / Integrated M. Sc is the eligible qualification with the following subjects:
- Main Subject: Physics (Additional Requirement: Mathematics must be one of the subject at B.Sc. level)
- Main Subject: Chemistry (Additional Requirement: Physics as ancillary subject at B.Sc. Level; and Mathematics at H.Sc. level)
- Main Subject: Life Sciences (Additional Requirements: Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Agriculture Chemistry as a main subject)
4. SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applications will be scrutinized and candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their academic performance and score obtained in the national qualifying exams. The recommendation/decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding.
A first screening will be made based on previous academic records of the applicants.
A further shortlisting of candidates will be made based on the performance in nation-wide screening test (Qualifying Examination).

- Sr. Resident Doctor – MBBS from a recognized university plus Post Graduate Diploma in the requisite discipline recognized by the Medical Council of India or MBBS degree along with one-year experience as Junior Resident Doctor preferably in the requisite discipline. Consolidated pay: ₹ 74,000/- per month.

Qualifications: MBBS from a recognized university with one-year internship from a recognized institution.

About Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) – भाभा परमाणु अनुसंधान केंद्र:
Dr. Bhabha approached Sir Dorabji Tata Trust for starting nuclear research in India leading to the establishment of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, which was inaugurated on December 19, 1945. Atomic Energy Act was passed on April 15,1948 and Atomic Energy Commission was constituted on August 10, 1948 in order to intensify the studies related to the exploitation of nuclear energy for the benefit of the nation. Exhaustive survey for rare minerals and Uranium deposits started by Atomic Minerals Division and on August 18, 1959 Indian Rare Earths Ltd was set up for the chemical processing and recovery of rare earth compounds and Thorium-Uranium deposits. Atomic Energy Commission started Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay on January 3, 1954. Atomic Energy Commission functioning under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Scientific Research was brought under the Department of Atomic Energy from August 3, 1954 with Dr. Homi Bhabha as the Secretary to the Government of India for the department. Department of Atomic Energy functioned under the direct control of the Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and continued to remain under the direct charge of successive prime ministers since then.
