His Life and Achievements
- Born in Madhya Pradesh, India.

- Studied at Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya (Nagpur) and J.J. School of Art (Mumbai).
- Later, he moved to France for further studies and settled there.
- Married a French woman.
- Received all three Padma awards – Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.
- His later paintings focused on a spiritual and philosophical approach.
- The ‘Bindu’ (dot) became an important part of his paintings.
- He believed that painting was a way to express deep emotions.
- Passed away on July 23, 2016, at the age of 94.

What is Gond Art?
- Gond Art is a tribal art form from Central India.

- It has been passed down from generation to generation.
Features of Gond Art
- Earlier, it was painted on the walls of houses using natural colors.
- The colors were made from soil, plant juices, leaves, tree bark, coal, cow dung, and flowers.
- Designs are made of dots, lines, curves, and circles.
- Focuses on balance, symmetry, and bright colors.
- Women played an important role in creating and preserving this art.
Gond Art in Modern Times
- With modernization, men have also started practicing this art.
- It is now done on paper, cloth, and canvas, making it available for sale.
