(1) Globalisation
Globalisation is the process of increasing connections between countries through trade, technology, and culture. In India, economic reforms in 1991 opened markets to foreign companies. It helped India grow economically, creating new jobs and businesses.
(2) White Revolution
The White Revolution was a movement to increase milk production in India, led by Dr. Verghese Kurien. It made India the largest producer of milk in the world. This revolution improved farmers’ income and ensured the availability of milk across the country.
3. Give Reasons:
1) The Morarji Desai government lasted for a short while.
Morarji Desai became India’s Prime Minister in 1977, leading the Janata Party. However, internal conflicts and disagreements weakened the government. Due to a lack of unity, his government collapsed in 1979.
2) The army had to be sent into the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
In 1984, separatist terrorists demanding Khalistan took shelter in the Golden Temple. They gathered weapons and posed a serious threat. To remove them, the Indian Army launched Operation Blue Star, leading to a military action inside the temple.
3) The National Planning Commission was set up in India.
The National Planning Commission was established in 1950 by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. It aimed to improve economic development through Five-Year Plans. The commission focused on industrial growth, poverty reduction, and self-sufficiency.
