Answer – Sublimation: – Sublimation is the process where a solid directly changes into a gas without becoming a liquid.
Examples: Camphor, naphthalene balls, dry ice (solid carbon dioxide), iodine.
5. What is it made from? Why?

(a) Sickle – Made of iron; strong and sharp for cutting.
(b) Roofing sheets – Made of metal; durable and protects from rain and sun.
(c) Screwdriver – Made of steel; strong for tightening screws.

(a) Mercury – Found in a thermometer, measures temperature.

8. Why does this happen?
Answer –
(a) Coconut oil thickens in winter because it becomes solid at low temperatures.
(b) Kerosene disappears when left open because it evaporates into the air.
(c) Fragrance of incense sticks spreads because gas particles move in all directions.
(d) Water evaporates from the ground due to heat from the sun.
