The Indian Subcontinent and History
1.1 Geographical Conditions and History
- Human life is connected to nature.
- Early humans changed their way of living based on their surroundings.
- History is a record of important past events.
- Four important things in history: Time, Place, Society, and Individuals.
- Geography and history are connected because geographical conditions shape human life.
1.2 How Geography Affects Human Life

- Coastal Regions: Important for trade with other countries.
- Islands: Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands were part of ancient sea trade.
