3. What do the following events/actions tell us about the characters? Discuss.
(a) The Archbishop announced that everyone was free to try his hand at the sword and called all the Lords to a Tournament.
Answer : This shows that the Archbishop was fair and wise. He wanted to give everyone a chance to prove themselves and find the true king. He was also a leader who tried to bring people together by organizing the tournament.
(b) Arthur agreed to bring Sir Kay a sword at once.
Answer : This tells us that Arthur was helpful, loyal, and quick to act. He cared about his brother Sir Kay and wanted him to do well in the tournament, so he didn’t waste time and rushed to get a sword.
(c) Sir Ector asked Sir Kay to show him whether he could draw the sword out of the stone.
Answer : This shows that Sir Ector was honest and smart. He didn’t just believe Sir Kay’s words; he wanted proof. It also shows he valued truth and didn’t want anyone to lie about something so important.
(d) Sir Ector kneeled before Arthur.
Answer : This tells us that Sir Ector was respectful and humble. When he realized Arthur was the true king, he showed his loyalty and love by kneeling, even though he had raised Arthur as his own son.
