Notes For All Chapters – Balbharati English Class 6
At the Science Fair
What is the Science Fair?
- The Science Fair happens at Vidya Vardhini School.
- It’s exciting with 50+ stalls, fun booths, and food stalls.
- Everything is done by students and has a science connection.
Two Main Rules:
- Students handle everything.
- All stalls (even food and fun) must be science-based.
How It Starts:
- Planning begins 2 months early.
- The Principal asks students, teachers, and parents for ideas.
- Parents also help plan and set it up.
- A committee (parents, teachers, and some students) organizes the fair.
Themes of the Fair:
- Plants
- Animals
- Properties of Substances (how things work)
- Energy (types and sources)
- Science in Everyday Life
- Latest Science News
- Food and Nutrition
- Total stalls: 56 (no repeat topics).
How Students Prepare:
- Groups pick a theme and topic.
- They research using textbooks, the library, and the internet.
- They decide to make models, show demos, use posters, or display collections.
- Language and looks of stalls matter—teachers help make them better.
Tips for Stalls:
Graphic (Posters/Charts):
- Write short and clear points.
- Use bullets, pictures, graphs, and label them.
- Check spelling and errors before finishing.
- Say where you got info or pictures from.
Oral (Speaking):
- Keep talks short (2-3 minutes).
- Match your talk to your stall’s display.
- Practice your speech and answering questions.
- Point to visuals while speaking.
- Dress neatly, be polite, smile, and admit if you don’t know something.
The Big Day:
- Started by Mr. Gizare, the oldest science teacher (he began the fair 25 years ago).
- He loves stalls about food safety and hands-on experiments.
- Clean Brigade keeps the fair tidy with brooms and bins, even with 1000+ visitors.
Fun Stalls (Class 6 Highlights):
- Watermill Model: Shows how water makes power.
- String Telephones: Make and try simple phones.
- Balloons Stall: So popular, they needed extra help!
- Fun with Magnets: See how magnets work.
- Maintaining Machines: Kids act like machines asking for care.
Why It’s Special:
- It ran for 3 days (not 2) because everyone loved it!
- It teaches kids, families, and the community.
